Founded in 1938, The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is "the voice of business in DeKalb County". Membership contributions in the form of dues or sponsorships go to support the initiatives set by the membership base and ensure that the Chamber is able to communicate with DeKalb County at large about issues directly affecting our community.

The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is proud of its community and the strength of our united membership. DeKalb County has thousands of professionals with unparalleled expertise and collective influence ~ all working hand-in-hand.

DeKalb County is the business destination, a 270-square mile gateway to key workforce, infrastructure and lifestyle amenities and advantages that have a major impact on the metropolitan Atlanta area.

DeKalb boasts more than 60 million square feet of office and industrial space, several thousand acres of undeveloped land and more interstate miles than any county in Georgia. At the same time a variety of housing options and an aggressive county initiative to build a major nature preserve all contribute to DeKalb's widely sought after quality of life.

The DeKalb Chamber membership has a long history of working with the rich tapestry of businesses, people and organizations that give the county its leading economic standing in the metro area. The Chamber often initiates public/private partnerships to develop policies and programs to support its key goal: promoting balanced growth to achieve a high quality of life for the county's residents and workforce.

Thanks to a collaborative effort between the DeKalb Development Authority and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, the Redevelopment Powers Law was passed with 56% of the voters in favor of the law. The DeKalb Chamber advocated the Redevelopment Powers Law via a campaign of direct mail, e-mail, phone calls, and public media.

Under this law, local governments are able to create tax allocations districts to facilitate the financing of infrastructure, development or redevelopment activities in underdeveloped or economically distressed area of our county. The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce believes the Tax Allocation Districts are essential to high quality growth throughout DeKalb County.
