DeKalb Chamber of Commerce President Katerina Taylor Receives 2015 Connector Award

DECATUR, Ga., – Sept. 24, 2015 – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Katerina Taylor was recognized with the 2015 Connector Award from ProNetworker for her impact of connecting businesses through networking.

Four other women were also honored at the ProNetworker Summit: Women in Networking event on September 16 at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta.

“The ProNetworker Summit was created to aid businesses across metro Atlanta connect through meaningful and profitable platforms,” said Corey Moore, CEO of ProNetworker. “It was an honor for our group to recognize Katerina Taylor for her accomplishments. She exemplifies our mission to connect people through networking.”

As the first female president of DeKalb Chamber, Katerina has used her networking skills to nurture existing relationships with corporate companies and small businesses to better address the needs of the business community.

“I am honored to have received this award,” said Katerina Taylor. “DeKalb Chamber relies on relationships in order to continue to understand and advocate for the business community. This award is a small piece of validation that the work we’re doing at the Chamber is making a difference.”

Under her leadership, DeKalb Chamber has grown the number of monthly memberships, increased the number of participants at program by 35 percent, and is ahead of budget by 40 percent over 2014. DeKalb Chamber has also reestablished its committees to connect business and community leaders and engage them to play a role in shaping DeKalb’s future.

DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Elects New Board Members

DeKalb County, GA – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has elected six prominent business leaders to join its Board of Directors. The new directors start their three-year term effective, Thursday, February 12. The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Board is comprised of 47 members and provides strategic direction and shapes strategy for the 77-year-old business organization.

 

New DeKalb Chamber directors include:

The individuals selected represent major corporations, long time partners and small businesses in the region.”

DeKalb School Superintendent Dr. R. Stephen Green to Meet with DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Members

DeKalb Schools Superintendent to Meet with DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Members

DECATUR, Ga., – Sept. 16, 2015 – DeKalb County School District Superintendent Dr. R. Stephen Green will speak to DeKalb Chamber of Commerce members and guests on Thursday, October 1, and share his vision and plans to work with the business and local community.

The October General Membership Meeting presented by Publix Super Markets and Georgia-Pacific will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina on 4000 Summit Boulevard in Atlanta.

“We are excited to provide our members with an opportunity to hear about what Dr. Green has already learned in his short time with DeKalb and what is in store for the school district,” said Katerina Taylor, President and CEO of DeKalb Chamber. “Current and prospective parents in DeKalb value a quality education for their children. This event will help show the school district’s continuous work of building a strong education system for students to thrive and succeed.”

“Education is the foundation that prepares students to become productive citizens,” said Brenda Reid, co-chair of the DeKalb Chamber Education Committee. “In order to shape the future of our workforce, it is important to have DeKalb businesses active and engaged, especially playing a role in supporting local education.”

Dr. Green was sworn in as Superintendent for DeKalb County Schools in July. He previously served as Superintendent at Kansas City Public Schools and played a major role in helping the school system earn its provisional accreditation.
