DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Announces Inaugural Economic Development Project of the Year Award, Accepting Nominations

DECATUR, Ga., – Jan. 29, 2016 – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce will present the inaugural DeKalb Economic Development Project of the Year Award at the Chamber’s 78th Annual Meeting & Business Luncheon on February 18. The award will recognize a major economic development project completed in DeKalb and its accomplishments in 2015.



DeKalb Chamber is now accepting nominations for the award. Businesses may nominate themselves or a business worthy of receiving this award.



The award will highlight development projects in mixed-use, brownfield, industrial, office developments, adaptive reuse or rehab projects, and resident projects (must include a commercial component). The project must have been completed in DeKalb County.



Entries must contain a written narrative describing the project and must state how the nominee meets the award criteria. Metrics and impact and investment data should be added to the narrative.



In addition to an award presentation at the Annual Meeting, the winner will receive a feature in the Atlanta Business Chronicle and a one-hour spotlight radio interview with the DeKalb Business Radio X.

MARTA CEO Keith Parker to Keynote DeKalb Chamber 78th Annual Meeting



DECATUR, Ga., – Jan. 25, 2016 – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce will host its 78th Annual Meeting and Business Luncheon on Thursday, February 18 with a special keynote presentation from Keith Parker, CEO of MARTA. Parker will speak on MARTA’s impact in DeKalb, initiatives for small business, women- and minority-owned business, and the transit system’s expansion plans for 2016.


The meeting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Georgia Aquarium, 225 Baker Street NW in Atlanta. Presenting sponsors include AT&T and Oglethorpe Power.


During the meeting, outgoing board chair Al Edwards, Managing Director of CERM, will pass the gavel to incoming board chair Diane McClearen, Director of Community and External Relations of Oglethorpe Power. DeKalb Chamber will also welcome new board members and recognize business and individuals for their contribution to the Chamber and/or DeKalb County.
