DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, Phoenix Leadership Foundation and T.R. Stegall Education Foundation to Lead Beautification Efforts at McNair High

DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, Phoenix Leadership Foundation and T.R. Stegall Education Foundation to Lead Beautification Efforts at McNair High

DECATUR, Ga., May 31, 2016 – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Phoenix Leadership Foundation and T.R. Stegall Education Foundation to host the “McNair Mustang Round Up and Clean Up” on Saturday, June 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McNair High School on 1804 Bouldercrest Road in Atlanta.

“Environment impacts outcomes. The way a school looks directly affects the way our students feel. Our kids deserve better. No school or school system can thrive without the support of a committed and engaged community, it’s our time to step up for our children,” said Jay Bailey, Chairman of the Phoenix Leadership Foundation.

“The business community said they wanted direct interaction to help the school system and its students,” said Katerina Taylor, President and CEO of DeKalb Chamber. “This is something we hope to continue to do and support in other parts of DeKalb.”

The day will consist of improving the exterior appearance of the school. Volunteers are needed to help paint the curb, pressure wash the building and steps, and dispose of heavy debris. Specialized skills in electrical work or repairs to ceilings are also requested.

Organizers are also seeking the following items: landscaping heavy equipment; new scoreboard; and lights (to be used in the softball, football and track field).

Interested volunteers can register online at www.bit.ly/beautifymcnair.
