The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Invites Chamber and Community Members to Explore Historic Cuba
DECATUR, Ga., – Feb. 19, 2016 – The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce announced today that it will be offering a unique opportunity to explore the scenic landscape of historic Cuba during an exclusive 6-day journey available to chamber members and their family and friends.
“This is an awesome opportunity to witness first-hand the noteworthy history and beauty that lie in Cuba,” said Katerina Taylor, DeKalb Chamber President. “Plus, travelers can experience the country’s culture, learn about its current business climate, and connect with leaders across the state.”
Participants will experience all the history, art and local culture found in the city streets of Havana, Cuba, during their four-night stay at the Memories Miramar hotel. A tour of the city sends travelers to the remarkable “Plaza de Revolucion,” a local hub for political and cultural events, as well as the Prado, a picturesque boulevard showcasing grand Cuban architecture on each side.
The journey continues with tours of Havana’s four major squares, where travelers will learn of the historical significance behind many of the city’s oldest buildings that date back to Colonial times. Visits to the San Jose Craft Market and a local artist’s home studio give art lovers a chance to witness the creation of beautiful traditional Cuban pieces.
The trip will also feature a tour of Hemingway’s Cuban retreat, an antique American car ride, a lesson in local salsa dancing, an interactive discussion on Cuba’s healthcare system, an informative tour of a local tobacco farm and multiple chances to dine at popular local restaurants. With ample opportunities for learning, tasting, exploring and relaxing, this incredible journey to the history-filled city of Havana is sure to please.
