DeKalb Schools Superintendent to Meet with DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Members
DECATUR, Ga., – Sept. 16, 2015 – DeKalb County School District Superintendent Dr. R. Stephen Green will speak to DeKalb Chamber of Commerce members and guests on Thursday, October 1, and share his vision and plans to work with the business and local community.
The October General Membership Meeting presented by Publix Super Markets and Georgia-Pacific will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Atlanta Perimeter at Villa Christina on 4000 Summit Boulevard in Atlanta.
“We are excited to provide our members with an opportunity to hear about what Dr. Green has already learned in his short time with DeKalb and what is in store for the school district,” said Katerina Taylor, President and CEO of DeKalb Chamber. “Current and prospective parents in DeKalb value a quality education for their children. This event will help show the school district’s continuous work of building a strong education system for students to thrive and succeed.”
“Education is the foundation that prepares students to become productive citizens,” said Brenda Reid, co-chair of the DeKalb Chamber Education Committee. “In order to shape the future of our workforce, it is important to have DeKalb businesses active and engaged, especially playing a role in supporting local education.”
Dr. Green was sworn in as Superintendent for DeKalb County Schools in July. He previously served as Superintendent at Kansas City Public Schools and played a major role in helping the school system earn its provisional accreditation.
