“Memory and poetry go together,
absolutely. It is a matter of
preserving and of remembering
things.”
Lisel Mueller
American Poet
This issue of DeKalb Chamber highlights a local business that
had its humble beginnings as a small poetry business creating
unique poems for various occasions. Each unique poem was
printed on parchment paper, framed and given as gifts to
commemorate special days or events. Eventually, the idea of
capturing memories on marble surfaced and over six years
ago, The Engraving House was established to help preserve
people’s most precious memories. Learn in this issue how The
Engraving House leverages Chamber membership and how
that partnership gaves him an added layer of credibility with his
customers.
Tell us about your business.
We are in the memory preservation business. Whether someone
is commemorating a special day or event, or celebrating the life of
someone who has passed on, we ensure those memories are set in
stone. Our core business is manufacturing headstones, company
awards and commercial signs. Two years ago, we acquired a
monument company, Giles Marble Works. This has been an exciting
addition for us. Giles Marble Works has been serving residents
and businesses of DeKalb County for over 65 years. We currently
partner with various businesses in DeKalb County to include schools,
churches, funeral homes, cemeteries and nonprofit organizations. We
are excited about being woven into the fabric of the DeKalb County
community.
