Economic Development and Governmental Affairs
Working with our County’s various departments and
development groups, to identify and maximize opportunities
for economic development, remains a priority for the
DeKalb Chamber and we look forward to championing
beneficial governmental programs that will help move
this objective forward.
The designation of Opportunity Zones, where companies
can earn tax credits for employees depending on where
they’re located, will go a long way to furthering economic
growth. We are also excited about new, more
streamlined, and efficient processes for business permitting ARNIE SILVERMAN AND LUZ BORRERO ATTEND THE

The Chamber has also been an active participant in the
formation and development of a countywide economic
development strategy which began in late Fall 2013.
In late 2013 DeKalb County’s Board of Commissioners
begain deliberation on an intergovernmental agreement
with the DADC, which will dictate the way economic
development is done in the County for years to come.
The Chamber stands ready to play an active role in the
implementation of this agreement, which will open doors
for job creation and new business development, as we
work to relocate, retain and expand business operations
in DeKalb County. DEKALB INTERIM CEO LEE MAY SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ON

The Chamber hosted its 4th Annual Legislative Preview
forum for the business community. Business, civic leader,
and several elected officials discussed top issues related
to the 2014 legislative session.
